There we go. Slides.
So we did a concept hackathon today. I've done a lot of hackathons over the last year — big ones, 10-hour ones. This one was a 90-minute one. And the idea was to just throw a bunch of people in a room, have 'em grouped together, and sort of come up with an idea — like a no-code hackathon. So just basically come up with an idea, and then present it.
And we are giving out — not awards, but we're telling you who won, who was second place.
And what's really interesting about it — and I've seen this — you throw a bunch of smart people in a group and you give them no rules and no structure, and they miraculously come up with like, insane things. It's just so amazing. If you ever get a chance to do one of these hackathons, just to watch what smart people with sort of no structure [can do].
It was just — everybody who was sort of in the audience was part of it. Every time somebody presented, just a roar of applause, just realizing what they had accomplished. Absolutely — it was amazing.
So this was the first one, and hopefully Gene lets us do more of these. 'Cause it was — we'll go through it, but you can see we had 11 teams and around a hundred participants in that small room there.
Stage banter — John Willis takes over
And obviously — "Hey Joseph." "Yes, sir." "I got a book signing." "What? I gotta go? What? See y'all, I gotta go sign a book." "Uh, what..."
[Joseph hands off the stage.]
Ladies and gentlemen, John Willis.
John Willis (Author)
Well, let's see. I think I got a few more slides in here.
So we had a ton of advisors again — Bert and Patrick Debois — obviously thank you to the advisors. They went around and helped everybody. A lot of great teams.
We had a tremendous amount of judging, as you can see here — Gene and Matt — I won't go through all the names, but again, big thank you to all the judges that took time and listened to and really took a lot of time with all of the folks. And you can see we took some great pictures here.
This was the criteria for the judging, right? Each of the judges was told — and the participants: was the idea fit the themes? And we had a series of themes that, if you're interested, we can go through with you. Was it a new idea or a new perspective? And understanding the idea — how well was it explained, things of that nature. Did it include valuable insights? And then to discuss opportunities to solve the problems.
And it was a really interesting time. We had a tie for third place with two teams. I think I have them here. I don't want to just give everybody who the winners were — we'll do this a little bit more official.
So we had a tie for third place — from the Continuum GPT and CodeMind teams. You guys in here? Continuum — there we go. Continuum GPT and CodeMind were in third place. And number two went to Criss-Cross Applesauce. All right? All right.
And number one — number one went to Vizier. Is Vizier here? Jennifer, are you in the audience? She did — their team did a great job. Actually, everybody did a great job. But hey, we want to again take the time to thank everybody.
I mean, we're talking about an hour and a half, and they packed in with all of these tables and teams, and they really did a fantastic job. So again, thank you to Gene for letting us host this. Thank you to all the teams. Thank you, the judges and advisors. And thank you all for coming and seeing this last lightning talk here. And again, this is a great event. Hopefully everybody had a great time. Good stuff.
I'm Joseph from EVT. Thank you all. Have a great night.
