Host Intro

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Gene Kim and Jeff Gallimore.

Gene Kim

Good morning, everyone, on day three. How is everyone doing?

So, by show of applause, how was everything yesterday and last night?

Lovely. Thank you to Sleuth for hosting the lightning talks. I think they were so fun. I think it is the most challenging presentation format. I've only done it once. It was one of the most stressful things I've ever done. And so they also sponsored that and all of the book signings last night, so round of applause for Sleuth.

So I just want to state that I am so delighted by the talks of the last two days, and so much of what was presented is so relevant for the work that I'm doing right now, the work that I'm doing with Dr. Steven Spear. So as great as those talks have been, I think you will find that the talks here on day three are as good or maybe even better than the ones that we had on day two.

One other observation: I've heard a couple of you told me that you actually like this new format where we have more plenary talks and they are shorter. And so if you have any opinions on that, put them in Slack or DM me.

So with that, over to Jeff to tell us about logistics and how we're going to keep the trains running on time.

Jeff Gallimore

All right. Thanks, Gene.

All right. How about those lightning talks last night? Those presenters have a tough job, and for those of you that were there last night, that buzzer at the end, that's a lot of pressure right there.

Okay, I wanted to do a check-in for how we're all feeling today. It's been a while since we've been back together in person, so we're maybe all adjusting to this.

So you might be feeling totally energized by the experience over the last two days and excited about what's going to happen today.

You might be feeling like you've found the place where you belong, like this is your community.

You might be pondering all the stuff that you learned, the stuff that you've heard, the talks that you've attended.

With all those journeys that have been shared, you might also be realizing that the struggle is real.

You might also have a feeling that you can do it, like when you get back to work, that you can make a difference.

And because we're all out of practice with this, we might just be totally wiped out. If you're feeling any of these things, or if you're like me, feeling all of them at the same time, that's okay. We've got a great day in store for you on day three, so strap in, buckle up. It's going to be amazing.

We want to hear your stories from the last two days of the summit, and also from today: the things that you've learned, the people that you've met, the ideas that you've got, the stuff that you're going to take back with you to where you work. We've got a Slack channel for that. Share it in Summit Stories before you go. It's going to be fuel for our journey.

And speaking of sharing, you've attended a lot of talks over the last two days. You're going to attend some talks today. We'd love to hear your feedback on those talks and the presenters. It's so helpful for the programming committee and also for the speakers themselves.

Big thank you to IT Revolution for bringing this community back together and giving us this opportunity to reconnect.

A big thank you to our premier sponsor, LaunchDarkly, all of our Platinum sponsors, all of our Gold sponsors. All of our sponsors are a really big part of this community, and they've been helping us with our journey the last two days and beyond.

Now we've borrowed a lot of time back this morning again for the announcements, given how things went yesterday. We're going to need it. So check Slack and check Sched. Those are your friends for all the information about where you need to go and what you need to know.

All right. Back to you for an amazing day three.

Gene Kim

Thank you, Jeff.
